by Rip

Our friends over at MadCatz sent over a couple of the Tournament Edition 2 Arcade Fightsticks for us to giveaway as part of our 5 year celebration! The TE2 is one of my favorite sticks and I’ve been using the Killer Instinct TE2 stick for over a year. Now that the new generation of consoles are kicking into high gear, you might need some new hardware, so I figured a review was in order! Check out this review to see how MadCatz has taken their original TE1 design and improved upon it:

IOGEAR KeyMander – Video Review

by Rip

A few months ago, we looked at the IOGEAR KeyMander here on this site. This device lets you use a keyboard and mouse to play FPS games on console. Soon after our review, IOGEAR released a firmware and software update to the device that added Playstation 4 support – along with various other improvements. In this video review, I talk about the device from bottom to top and show gameplay examples from Xbox One (Destiny, Call of Duty:Ghosts) and Playstation 4 (Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare).

Razer Atrox Arcade Stick Has A Release Date

by Rip

After Razer’s sponsored players like Fuudo and Latif have been using/testing the new Razer Atrox stick for what seems like years now, the product is finally coming to retail. Only for Xbox 360 the full feature list isn’t too different from what we’ve seen from other manufacturers, but it does come with a screwdriver! The USB cable is also detachable and the stick is designed for easy modding with an interchangeable top panel. Check it out at razerzone.com/atrox where you can pre-order it now for $199 before its June 2013 release.

Razer Blackwidow 2013 Mechanical Keyboard Lineup – Unboxing and Comparison

by Rip

I recently couldn’t decide which Razer Blackwidow 2013 Keyboard to pick up. I knew I wanted a mechanical keyboard, but didn’t know if I should go with the Ultimate / Regular or the Stealth / Non-Stealth versions. So I got two, and luckily ended up with the right combination for myself. For those of you that don’t know, mechanical keyboards have a mechanical switch for each key. They activate within 2mm’s (generally) so you don’t have to push the key all the way down for it to register.

Mad Catz Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Fight Stick TE-S+ Unveiled at PAX

by Rip

Over at PAX 2012 the brand new Mad Catz Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Fight Stick has been unveiled and its got some new features! Details aren’t clear yet, but it looks like the art is easily swappable and they have a new non-slip bottom as well. For the PS3 version they’ve also given a nod to the Namco / Tekken fightsticks of the past (I feel like I had this idea awhile ago..) by making the stick and buttons yellow! So sick! Check out the pictures they’ve released below (I’ve added a picture of the original Namco stick as well). The stick will be available for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the WiiU.

Cant wait to try out that new bottom as its the only thing I felt was missing from previous Mad Catz sticks!

Level Up Your … Monitor Lag?

by Derek Lee

Most people in this day and age play our games on HDTV’s at home. The old days of everyone playing on a lagless CRT tv are virtually extinct and unfortunately the modern day HDTV’s all have some sort of lag.

What does this mean for you? Well if you are a casual gamer, it means nothing. Playing on your neighbor’s 50 inch plasma won’t really have an effect on you. However, if you are sitting at home in practice mode aiming to get Top 8 at the next major tournament, then lag may have an effect on your timing – in this case, the 50 inch plasma may not be the best TV to practice on. It will negatively affect how you perform your 1 frame link combos in SF, throw breaks in Tekken, just frames in Soul Calibur and other timing-strict games. Those serious gamers may want to consider investing in a new HDTV setup.
