by Rip

The Major League Gaming Fall Championship is underway and yesterday the Koreans dominated over the Americans in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Anakin was sent to the loser bracket by JDCR and Pokchop was sent to losers by HelpMe. Today Kor will go against Saint and other Americans like BossArario and Kane will battle it out to see who will have to face the other koreans. Should be a really exciting event. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 – Officially Part of MLG

by Rip

It was announced earlier this week that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be an official part of the MLG line-up for the MLG Fall Championship. MLG for Tekken 6 was extremely fun and hype for everyone who made it out and I hope the scene supports it in the same way.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will make its Pro Circuit tournament debut in Dallas. The competition will run Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 and players will compete for $15,000 in prizes.

MLG Considering Tekken Tag Tournament 2 For MLG Fall Championship

by Rip

If you haven’t been keeping up with MLG, they have been running events for Soul Calibur V, Mortal Kombat 9, and KOF XIII. Earlier today MrMLGAdam tweeted the following:
“Tekken tag drops in September? Fall championship? Tell @Filthierich to make it happen ;)”

I’ll take that as a not-so-subtle hint that there is a good chance Tekken will be making a RETURN to MLG. Incase you don’t remember how awesome it was last time, take a look at this:

MLG Enters The Fighting Game Community – AGAIN! This time with Mortal Kombat 9

by Rip

Though this may be news to some, MLG had a fighting game last year and Complexity had two sponsored players in it (Crow and Mr “I beat EG’s JustinWong at SSF4AE last weekend” Naps). Well, they’re doing it again this year! Kind of.. This year they are having a Mortal Kombat 9 online tournament (PS3 only). Top 8 of that tournament will qualify for the Top 16 at their MLG Raleigh, North Carolina event in August. Check out all the info here. Up for grabs is $2000 in the online tournament and $7000 at the live event in Raleigh!

Tekken 6 NOT part of the 2011 MLG Season

by Rip

Minutes ago, MLG released their first announcement regarding the 2011 Season. Rather than have multiple games, it looks like they will be focusing their efforts on three main games – Starcraft 2, Halo:Reach, and Call of Duty:Black Ops – Prizes have been increased and they will be giving out over a million dollars in prizes and stipends this year. Noticably absent from the previous season, Tekken 6, Super Smash Brothers, and World of Warcraft. There may be details released later regarding “Throwback” events that may include these games as sideshows throughout the season however they will not be included as part of the regular season.

They also mention that the first event will be April 1st-3rd in Dallas, Texas followed up by the second event in Columbus, Ohio June 3-5. Also, there will be 6 events this year compared to 5 last year. Check out the full details here
