Bogus Journeys – Episode 1 – Really Homie?!

Welcome! To the first episode of Bogus Journeys! In this new series from us here at Level Up Your Game we play Tekken 6… Online. Whoa, whoa whoa. Tekken 6…online? Yes. Tekken 6.. ONLINE. As this was our first time doing this we sort of winged it and hoped for the best, so any feedback, suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated.

They got a point though. Mocking online players because they have bad habits is the “IN” thing to do as it seems when you are an arcade regular, but it does make you look rather childish most of the time.
I LOVE these videos simply because its very enjoyable to see offline pros join “the other world” and get entertained by all the “really homie?” and some such shit.
But instead of being elitist and arrogant about it, one should rather just be glad that they have arcades around their area. Europe doesnt have arcades, but still has a tekken community that follows all the stuff AvoidingThePuddle, levelup etc. iz doing. Mocking someone because they play online is silly really considering its not a matter of choice but a matter of where you live which determines if youre an offline or online player.
It also is a misconception that online players dont place well in tourneys because they are online players. The sole reason for this is that they dont place at all because they dont attent in the first place. Also if youre not from asia or the us, youre not gonna practice tekken 10h/day because the flight to any major tournament would still cost you 4 figures, its not worth it.
If I would dedicate my time to practice tekken 6 alot, I am positive that I would easily beat many of the best players out there, but the thing is, I would still not be able to play against em in the first place. I then would be a pro at beating the 5-6 other casual players around my area, great 😛
Anyway, lets get to this again when TT2 hits because chances are, many areas in the US wont get it on arcade and will be forced to play it online just like europeans.

Ps: Rip Id really like to hear your opinion about this one ;o

    1. We definitely realize that not everyone has access to offline Tekken. I thought the series would be fun to do because the online SYSTEM isn’t great. I have nothing against online PLAYERS. There is a big difference between hating on the system and hating on the players. A lot of people seem to think we have a problem with online players because they play online. There are bad players both offline and online. If we’re hating on an online player its because of the player not because of where he plays. Long story short, I think a lot of people are reading a lot deeper into the things we’re saying.

IMO, a purely online player can not place top 3 in an offline tournament (USA as this is what I have experience with). The knowledge, skillset, and experience you get online will only carry you so far. Hopefully TTT2 will have better netcode so it applies more directly because right now its almost two separate games online/offline.

Online is trash. Even if online is all some people have online is still trash. Period.

@Rip: I get your point, I wasnt talking about your particular show because its a really good one to me, but about offline players and their attitude in general. If you read tekken zaibatsu youll see that many players are actually not hating on the bad offline mode, but on the players. “Online scrubs” and similar stuff.
I mean its called “online bogus” and not “online mads n bads” and I appreciate that alot 😉
Anyway, keep up with the good work.

lol i play online. Ive been meaning to head out to Super sometime.

  7. Ninjamoose9000

I was playing online a little bit ago, and the actual movement wasn’t lagging, but the time delay made poking and juggling impossible. I just turtled and punished all day. Also, i think a raven or jin episode would help. Raven is a misunderstood player and i think with practice he could go pretty far. It would be nice to learn something about him from a pro. >.> <..<

Also, if you DO make a jin video…get Byakko. that guy’s insanely good. Especially with Jin. ^^
